Modern Folk Art Painting: Acrylics on Wood with local artist Michelle Hamilton
Custom Class for 3 people
Whimsical, colorful and full of personality are just a few words to describe Michelle Hamilton’s style of painting and teaching! This custom session will be chock full of color & character, so bring your imagination and sense of humor to this one!
In this session, you will be working alongside a visual muse to inspire your ideas and your painting, as you learn to create with acrylic paints on a canvas or wood panel. Michelle will first guide you with how to build up a “roughed up/ rustic background” using layers of paint with tools that add textures, marks, shapes, lines, etc to create an interesting backdrop.
You’ll then be invited to create a character, scene or image that brings you joy, working from a rough sketch (no drawing talent needed!). From there, you will begin bringing your unique piece of art to life.
You’ll take home your creation and a very fun memory!
This experience is designed to be beginner-friendly. All materials are included.
Oh and folk art is meant to be imperfect … that is the fun part! Check your perfectionist at the door!
