Awakening the Inner Guide: Art~Nature~Body~Soul : Sunday 3/ 16: 12PM- 4PM w/ Gillian Hailey & Kristen Edge
Touchstones for Navigating Challenging Times
A collaborative offering with Gillian Hailey (founder of Bloom Embodied Wellbeing) and Kristen Edge (ArtPlay founder)
As the new year unfolds, many are yearning for deeper connections to each other and self. We have no doubt entered a new time where circumstances call on us to come together with greater compassion and navigate our lives with deeper self-care.
We are excited to invite you into a newly formed community offering that will help you tap into resources for navigating these challenging times with a deeper sense of calm and connection. Join us for an empowering and uplifting afternoon that blends time in Nature with grounding somatic practices and playful art-making in kindred community.
For this gathering, Gillian & Kristen are curating an immersive experience with the intention of helping us all to awaken and access our own inner resources and deep wisdom. The languages of Nature, Body, Soul, and Art (as portals and pathways of insight, expression, and connection) are as old as human history. Yet many or most of us as adults have lost access -to some degree -with these innate inner resources within us. When we engage with Nature through the aliveness of our senses, and extend that connection via playful art-making, we open powerful channels for accessing our deep inner knowing & intuition. These are tools we already possess - that when re-awakened - help us to draw upon our innate body wisdom, our connection and belonging to the natural world, and our own creative voice.
This offering will include : an opening circle, a nature walk - that blends mindfulness, sensory awareness, and nature connection practices- as well as reflective art journaling & a mark-making experience with inks, rice papers & old book pages. We will be using the inks on paper to extend and capture our insights and impressions from the nature outing, in a playful and intuitive way. At the close of the experience, we’ll make space to share what feels meaningful (optional) using our visual and/or somatic (felt sense) impressions.
Please bring a mixed media journal to collect and re-create your insights and reflections from the day that feel most supportive for you. You will use this journal to eventually glue down your inked-papers. All other materials + light snack snack/ beverages are included.
We look forward to gathering with you and coming together in community!
NOTE: If you are interested in this offering but cannot attend on the listed date, we’d love to hear from you! We are starting an interest list for future offerings. GET IN TOUCH HERE.
LOCATION: This class on 3/16 will begin at Asheville Botanical Gardens, for the guided nature walk & somatic noticing, followed by gathering at ArtPlay’s Studio in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood (across from Asheville Yoga), at53 Orange Street. The studio is an easy 5 minute drive from the gardens.
