NEW CLASS! Wool-Painted Landscapes, Saturday 5/17: 2PM-5PM with local artist Meredith Law
Explore the creative galaxy of wool painting, where fiber becomes your paint and a needle is your brush.
We will gather around a communal table filled with soft, colorful wool roving, pre-made rustic wood frames, and watercolor templates to guide your composition. No art experience is required—I will guide you through the process of layering and sculpting fibers to create a beautifully textured landscape.
All materials are provided, and you’ll leave with a ‘ready-to-hang’ piece of fiber art.
Materials: Wool roving, needles, upcycled fabric canvas, salvaged wool frame, and watercolor templates.
You don’t need any fiber art experience to be successful. Every time I teach this class I am amazed at the beauty my students create, the joy they find in the process, and the harmony we reach as a group.
About your teaching artist, Meredith Law:
“I am an event designer, artist, and educator who finds endless inspiration in nature. I grew up in North Carolina gardening and exploring the woods. I spent the last 15 years in California getting to know every trail on Mt. Tam and every event venue in wine country. I loved the west, but am so excited to be settled back in Asheville again. With a BFA in sculpture and a degree in botany, my passion lies in collecting unusual pieces from nature and creating elegant things out of the unexpected. I help people reconnect with the natural world and rediscover their childlike sense of wonder—whether through immersive event designs, hands-on workshops, or creative education.”
