Botanical Flow: Loose Floral Sketches in Acrylic Inks: Saturday 11/07, 10:00am-1:00pm with local artist Alison Press
Join local artist Alison Press for a morning of playful exploration using color, movement, and creative expression - as you discover the beautiful spontaneity of working with acrylic inks and walnut ink. In this relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop, you'll be guided in creating a series of loose, abstract floral sketches inspired by fresh botanical arrangements and the natural flow of the medium itself.
Working with both acrylic inks & walnut ink, you'll experiment on a variety of watercolor and mixed-media papers, each offering its own unique texture and response. As the inks bloom, blend, drip, and dance across the page, you'll explore expressive mark-making using brushes, bamboo dip pens, and the ink droppers themselves.
Rather than focusing on perfection, this workshop is an invitation to embrace curiosity, trust the creative process, and enjoy the unexpected beauty that unfolds. Fresh flowers will be available for inspiration, and you're welcome to bring your own botanical photo references if you'd like.
Whether you're completely new to painting or an experienced artist looking to loosen your approach, acrylic inks offer a wonderfully freeing way to explore abstraction. Together we'll celebrate bold strokes, fluid washes, rich color, and the joy of creating without expectation—leaving with a collection of expressive floral studies and renewed creative confidence.
You are invited to bring any photos or images they want to use as a subject matter reference; floral images- realistic or abstract.
No experience is needed. Materials are provided. You will leave with your very own small set of acrylic inks and “bamboo pen” to continue these experiments on your own!
Come play, learn & discover with us!
