Modern Folk Art Animals: Acrylic Painting on Wood Panel: Saturday 3/28 + Sunday 3/29, noon- 4PM with local artist Michelle Hamilton
Saturday 3/28: Noon- 4:00pm
Sunday 3/29: noon- 4:00pm
Whimsical, colorful, & full of character! Join local artist Michelle Hamilton for a fun weekend learning to create a layered folk art piece on an 11× 14 panel, using acrylic paints, paint pens and a few collage elements. Bring a visual muse that inspires you!
In this class, you will learn to create a textured background on wood panel using acrylic paints and various tools to create texture. From there Michelle will guide you in creating a loose sketch, inspired by your muse, that you will then transfer/ loosely sketch onto your wood panel. Warm-ups/ practice pieces will be created before moving on to your larger panel.
Michelle will share techniques for building up layers of your transferred image with acrylic paints, later adding a few collage papers for visual interest/ pattern.. And last, but not least, learn the art of “mark-making” or adding the final details, which Michelle calls “the gingerbread” using tools such as white Gelli Roll Pens, Posca paint pens & acrylic fine-tip paint bottles for “mark-making” & detail.
No experience is needed! Materials are included.
