Tania wants to take your acrylic painting relationship to the next level - using a larger canvas! 

During this weekend workshop, you'll dive into expressive color exploration, guided by technique options that support painting to a larger scale.

If you’ve ever taken a class with Tania you know you’ll leave having laughed, and learned (and maybe a little in love with acrylic painting! Her classes are an energetic mix of laughter and color, coupled with lots of support and guidance with new painting techniques. If you don’t know her yet, you are in for a treat!


Bring your heavy body acrylic paint
(list of color suggestions attached below) and an inspiration picture or two and one larger canvas ( go with a size that you feel would work best for your painting like 16x20" or 18x24" or if you prefer square 20x20 or 24 x 24 canvas as long as it is acrylic gesso primed you can get regular stretched canvas or more expensive gallery wrapped canvas.) You'll start off each morning with a color warm up exercise on small canvas boards that Tania will provide.

In this beginner level 2 workshop, you’ll begin with some mini warmups -on small canvas boards and mixing demos. You will be supported throughout the weekend in learning color mixing strategies and combos, by understanding how color theory works.

Tania will have you get familiar with how to gracefully blend colors or add in bold paint applications , mixing and matching with a palette knife technique and using color theory of complimenting colors while recognizing what colors are warm or cool and lastly how to use this color control to evoke emotion in your artwork!

There will be a break for you to take lunch each day around noon, with suggestions for nearby cafes- or BYO lunch and store in fridge.

Acrylic Colors Tania Recommends

  • Titanium white * you may want bigger tube  (8.45 oz) only because this gets used more than other colors....

  • Primary Blue

  • Ultramarine blue

  • Primary Yellow (or Yellow Medium)

  • Yellow ochre

  • Alizarin Crimson  (this is a deep red) 

  • Primary Red  or Cad Red or permanent red 

  • Dioxide Purple 

  • Burnt Umber (this is a brown) 

  • Phthalo Green

  • Grass Green
