Chimes & Mobiles: Finding Beauty in the Overlooked, Saturday 5/17, 10AM-1PM with local artist Meredith Law
Brand new class!
Super excited to welcome local artist Meredith Law for this class, who has relocated to Asheville from the bay area.
Join Meredith for a hands-on workshop where you will transform found and forgotten objects into hanging chimes and mobiles. Using an array of botanical and household materials - buttons, bells, twigs, eco-printed ribbon, wire, seashells, stones, and more - you’ll craft a piece that tells your story.
Meredith will provide a variety of flotsam - various natural objects & those brought to shore by the sea- to work with, but she also encourages you to bring an item of your own to include in your design. Something unique, odd, fun, or that holds a memory, a piece you’ve saved but aren’t sure what to do with. Perhaps a memento from Hurricane Helene, touched by floodwaters, wind, or mud, or something from another chapter of your life that you’d like to weave into something new.
This workshop is as much about balance as it is about creation. Come ready to explore, reflect, and give new life to the overlooked.
This is going to be a beautiful class & experience!
Materials - other than special items you want to bring- are included in this class.
No experience is needed!
About your teaching artist:
Written by Meredith: I am an event designer, artist, and educator who finds endless inspiration in nature. I grew up in North Carolina gardening and exploring the woods. I spent the last 15 years in California getting to know every trail on Mt. Tam and every event venue in wine country. I loved the west, but am so excited to be settled back in Asheville again. With a BFA in sculpture and a degree in botany, my passion lies in collecting unusual pieces from nature and creating elegant things out of the unexpected. I help people reconnect with the natural world and rediscover their childlike sense of wonder—whether through immersive event designs, hands-on workshops, or creative education.
