Block-Printing on Paper, Fabric & Canvas Totes. SAT. AFTERNOON 06/07, 1-5 PM with local artist Jessica Kaufman ONE SPOT REMAINING
Do you love the idea of creating and printing your own carved stamp designs?
Join us for an afternoon of community & creativity, learning to design, carve and print with your very own handmade rubber stamps, that you can use again & again on multiple types of surfaces! Led by local textile artist, Jessica Kaufman.
Print on our papers, canvas tote bags- and/or a fabric/clothing item you bring from home! Or bring a onesie if you have a baby or grandbaby! You will also be invited to create fabric prints in class using a variety of shapes for patches - for future mending & embellishing some of your old favorite garments.
The first half of class will be devoted to understanding the fundamentals of good design, layout, and carving out of any simple image you would like. We will then spend about an hour printing with your stamps, each others’, and the instructor’s collection. We will use quality fabric inks by Speedball, brayers and your own carved rubber stamp designs.
Each student will be provided with canvas tote, thick paper cards, and fabric to create patches with. Please also feel free to bring one (1) item of clothing to make more magic onto. Solid, light colors work best!
Oh, and you will leave with your own unique hand-carved stamps to use again and again in your art projects (collage, mixed media, future fabric projects, etc…)
A light snack and beverage are included will be served mid-way through this class.
All materials you need are included with this class. No experience needed! NOTE: you do NOT need to be “able to draw” to take this class !
