Liz Edge

My love of creating artwork goes back for as long as I can remember, so to broaden my knowledge and skill, I studied art at Auburn University and have a Visual Arts/Design degree.  After college, it was wonderful to be employed full-time as an Artist/Designer for Southern Progress/Southern Living, headquartered in Birmingham, but later I transitioned to free-lance there to allow time to be with family and to pursue my own artistic endeavors. I began creating portraits, which quickly established a solid foundation for me, and I’ve loved doing portraits of all kinds ever since. Not one to be too stationary, I also began painting large murals and commission artwork, and also illustrated a children’s book (Blessing from Above, published by Random House 1999).

My artwork has always revolved around things that hold meaning, whether to me or to a client. For more than three decades of working as an artist, I have found that few things inspire me more than a beloved person, a dear pet, or a favorite place. The things that we all love readily become my muse!

Each of these three pet portraits show examples of my collage technique. Using only cut and torn magazine paper which is glued and sealed on stretched canvas, I will create for you a custom portrait of your pet. An email or text of some of your favorite photographs is all that is required to begin (though I do love hearing a little about them too!).

A portion of each commission will be donated to a non-profit animal charity.
