Star Lantern Making Workshop: Saturday 11/29 10 AM- 1PM, with local artist Liberty Hanson Wild
ArtPlay is honored to support this community-focused workshop, in support of this year’s upcoming Winter Solstice Lantern Walk- called “Light the Night AVL”.
Funds from your registration will cover the cost of materials only, so that we may keep this offering accessible to the community.
Create your own glowing star lantern using simple papier-mâché techniques in this hands-on craft class. These luminous lanterns can be carried in Light the Night AVL, Asheville’s Winter Solstice Lantern Walk, or used as handmade holiday decor to brighten your home this season.
All materials provided. No experience necessary - just bring your curiosity and a willingness to get a little messy as we create together.
What’s Included:
Materials to make up to 3 star lanterns
Ribbon “tails” to transform your stars into shooting stars
LED light to illuminate your lantern from within
Liberty Hanson Wild is a mixed media artist based in Asheville whose work explores cycles in nature, memory and the beauty found in transformation. In the wake of Hurricane Helene, she created Light the Night AVL as a way to bring light, hope, and connection to the community through creativity.
