Clay Harvest Sculptures — An Autumn Bounty Workshop, Sunday 10/11, 10:00am-1:00pm with local artist Katie Croft
As the wheel of the year turns toward fall, we gather around the table to shape the season’s abundance. In this three‑hour clay workshop, you’ll create sculptural pieces inspired by harvest, nourishment, and the quiet magic of gathering in what has grown. Think seed pods, gourds, fruiting branches, corn husks, baskets, and crescent moons — forms that echo the generosity of the earth.
We’ll begin by tuning into the textures and symbols of autumn: the swell of ripe fruit, the curve of a pumpkin stem, the layered story inside a pomegranate, the way a basket holds what we’ve earned and what we’ve been given. From there, you’ll hand‑build one or more clay sculptures that embody your own sense of bounty — whether literal, abstract, or deeply personal.
Throughout the class, we’ll explore:
Approachable hand‑building techniques for organic, sculptural forms
How to use texture tools and natural materials to evoke harvest imagery
Infusing intention into your piece: gratitude, abundance, cycles, nourishment
Ways to let the clay guide you toward shapes that feel alive and seasonal
Photos shown reference some late summer fruits and a few autumn harvest fruits. In the class, we’ll focus on autumn fruits such as:
Apples, Pears, Figs, Persimmons, Pomegranates, Quinces
No experience is needed. All materials you need are included!
You’ll leave with a finished clay sculpture (or a small collection of them), each one a talisman of fall’s richness — something to place on your altar, your table, or anywhere you want to honor the season of gathering in.
We look forward to welcoming you!
