Join local artist Alison Press for this fun, creative afternoon learning a new technique! Expand your creative toolkit and explore monoprinting, using simple techniques, easily available art materials. This Monoprint Workshop is for beginners or anyone wanting to have fun and learn a different type of abstract art process!
In this class, our printmaking process will use acrylic paint on a flat surface , referred to as a “ plate”. An image or painting is first created on this plate and then will be transferred to another surface using light hand pressure, creating a print. In this workshop the plate will be Yupo paper, a flexible, plastic like printers’ paper. The initial image, or painting, will be pressed by hand onto other types of paper, such as watercolor paper, which will absorb the paint to create print.. An image can be printed multiple times, with varying effects, or re-worked fully. Each print will create a unique, one of a kind image, called a monoprint.
After images are created and printed they can be left as is or embellished with more paint, mixed media or collage. The paintings created can use photos or magazine images (figures, landscapes, etc) as a reference, but this is not required. The sky is the limit in terms of what type of image you want to create! Participants will have an opportunity to explore all these possibilities and will leave with a few completed, original works of art, along with a new learned printmaking skill.
We can’t wait to welcome you!
