In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll discover how alcohol inks move and mingle as they bloom, expand, and flow across the surface, echoing the organic beauty of falling leaves and shifting landscapes. Working on black synthetic paper, you’ll experience how warm ambers, deep crimsons, golden ochres, and moody plums come alive in luminous contrast against a dark background.
Throughout the class, Kimberly will guide you in creating petal- and leaf-inspired forms, soft gradients, and layered compositions that reflect the depth and richness of autumn. You’ll explore techniques for building dimension, adding subtle metallic accents for a touch of seasonal glow, and gently guiding the inks with air and simple tools—allowing each piece to unfold with a sense of movement and surprise.
You’ll begin with smaller studies (5 × 7) before transitioning into a larger 8 × 10 piece, giving you space to deepen your exploration. Optional: If you fall in love with one of your creations, you’ll have the opportunity to have it mounted on a wood panel and finished with resin for a polished, lasting piece.
