Colorscapes: Palette Knife Edition!, Saturday & Sunday, September 26 & 27, 10:00am -3:30pm both days- with guest artist Tania Dirks.
A two-day painting workshop exploring bold texture, playful color, and confident palette knife techniques.
Join artist and instructor Tania Dirks for a fun, hands-on workshop focused on palette knife painting, color mixing, and expressive paint application.
Over two creative days, artists will experiment with still lifes, abstracts, and landscapes while learning how to load, spread, scrape, scratch, and shape paint with a variety of palette knives. We’ll explore how color, chroma, texture, and movement work together to bring energy and confidence into your paintings.
This workshop is perfect for artists who want to loosen up, build skills, and try a bold, playful way of applying paint.
Each attendee will receive a palette knife kit to use during class and take home. Tania will also provide multiple small canvas panels for warm-up exercises and a suggested paint color list before the workshop.
Tania will bring the heavy body acrylic gel medium that you will need for this class, in addition to the canvas you will need.
Please bring:
Heavy body acrylic paints(list of color suggestions will be sent to you )
an inspiration picture or two
A large paint palette
Any favorite brushes or palette knives
An open mind and energy to experiment
We will take a short lunch break each day. Feel free to bring your lunch or head downstairs to enjoy the delicious Guajiro Cuban Cafe- re-opening September 12!
NOTE: This class will be held at our new location in the River Arts District. There is one flight of stairs to the classroom. Location details will be sent to you in advance of the class
