Colorscapes XL, Fields & Flowers June 6 & June 7, 10:00am -3:30pm both days- with guest artist Tania Dirks
Always wanted to create a larger painting filled with a field with flowers? During this weekend workshop, you'll dive into expressive color exploration, guided by technique options that support painting to a larger scale.
In this workshop, Tania will guide you through making your own unique LARGE-SCALE flower field. You can be as realistic or abstract as you like !
From color theory, blocking out composition, texture options with paint and how to blend colors and create a sense of mood and space it will be a bouquet of color and fun!
Must bring own inspiration photos of flower fields, acrylic paint, & supplies like brushes /palette and canvas!
If you’ve ever taken a class with Tania you know you’ll leave having laughed, and learned (and maybe a little in love with acrylic painting! Her classes are an energetic mix of laughter and color, coupled with lots of support and guidance with new painting techniques. If you don’t know her yet, you are in for a treat!

In this beginner level 2 workshop, you’ll begin with some mini warmups -on small canvas boards and mixing demos. You'll start off each morning with a color warm up exercise on small canvas boards that Tania will provide. You will be supported throughout the weekend in learning color mixing strategies and combos, by understanding how color theory works. Beginner level 2 simply means some prior experience with acrylic painting is helpful.
Tania will have you get familiar with how to gracefully blend colors or add in bold paint applications , mixing and matching with a palette knife technique and using color theory of complimenting colors while recognizing what colors are warm or cool and lastly how to use this color control to evoke emotion in your artwork!
There will be a break for you to take lunch each day around noon, with suggestions for nearby cafes- or BYO lunch and store in fridge.

What to bring:
Heavy body acrylic paints(list of color suggestions will be sent to you )
an inspiration picture or two
one larger canvas ( go with a size that you feel would work best for your painting like 16x20" or 18x24" or if you prefer square 20x20 or 24 x 24 canvas as long as it is acrylic gesso primed you can get regular stretched canvas or more expensive gallery wrapped canvas.)
NOTE: This class will be held at our new location in the River Arts District. There is one flight of stairs to the classroom. Location details will be sent to you in advance of the class
