Join us for this colorful Saturday workshop, focusing on technique with acrylic painting, layering and color theory. If you know Colorscape artist Tania Dirks, you understand that her classes are an energetic mix of laughter and color, coupled with lots of support and guidance with new painting techniques. If you don’t know her yet, you are in for a treat!
In this beginning-level workshop, you’ll begin with some mini warmups -on small canvas boards and mixing demos. Followed by a focused Colorscape painting on 11”x14” canvas. (see “student painting” images for reference). You will be supported throughout the day in learning color mixing strategies and combos, by understanding how color theory works.
Tania will have you get familiar with how to gracefully blend colors or add in bold paint applications , mixing and matching with a palette knife technique and using color theory of complimenting colors while recognizing what colors are warm or cool and lastly how to use this color control to evoke emotion in your artwork!
All paint supplies will be provided but you are welcome to bring your favorite brushes and palette knife if you have it, Tania will let you borrow her basic tools.
Materials are included with your registration, and there will be a break for you to take lunch around 12:30. There are cafes around the corner and a fridge at the studio if you prefer to bring your lunch.
