Collaging a Peaceful World, Saturday 4/25, 2:00PM- 5:00PM with local artist Alison Press

$75.00

Collaging a Peaceful World is a mixed-media workshop designed as a reflective art-making experience—a creative respite during a time when there is so much going on in the world.

Open to all levels, from beginners to experienced visual creatives, this workshop invites participants to design and create a unique collage painting that expresses their personal vision of a peaceful world—whether that peace lives within, or extends outward into the world at large.

The afternoon begins with a brief guided meditation, offering a moment of calm and grounding before moving into the art-making process. From there, participants will explore peace through layered collage and mixed media, using a rich variety of papers, paints, markers, and other materials. Collage elements may be cut or torn from magazines, newspapers, photographs, old paintings, sheet music, tissue paper, wallpaper, or paint samples—the possibilities are endless and guided only by imagination.

Each collage will emerge through personal reflection and intuitive choice. Paint and additional materials will be layered to build depth and meaning, and participants may choose to incorporate words, text, or poetry into their imagery. Finished works may take the form of a recognizable subject—such as a figure or landscape—or remain non-objective and abstract. Along the way, foundational art principles including composition, balance, and value will be gently introduced and supported.

Participants are welcome to bring their own photographs, images, or meaningful papers and ephemera to further personalize their work.

The workshop will close with a quiet, reflective sharing of poetry that Alison will share with you, bringing the experience to a close. Each attendee will leave with a completed, colorful, one-of-a-kind collage painting—ready to take home as a tangible expression of peace.
